I'm confused. Because of this post, I made QuickPlay 4.6.6, which enables LZMA2 support: tested and working, confirmed working also by Jaw970. So you should find LZMA2 also works for you if you are using QuickPlay 4.6.6
Could I ask you to download the latest QuickPlay, and set it up on its own (not as an upgrade, its fine for any number of QuickPlay installations to co-exist as they don't use the windows registry), and see if an LZMA2 compressed set is working then?

7zip regionalisation issues should be fixed in QP4.7.2, these would occur if you had non ascii characters in a filepath
